Minor Ailments.

Nurse Practitioner /Practitioner Pharmacist (Clinics /Consultations)

Working directly with patients, NPs and PPs can diagnose and manage most common and many chronic illnesses. They are authorized to perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, provide counselling and education, and write prescriptions.

Physiotherapy.

An advanced Practice Physiotherapist has joined our team offering appointments. If you have a bone ,muscle or joint problem the physio is able to assess , diagnose and develop and early management plan. Reception staff will ask some questions as it may be more appropriate for you to see the physio instead of  a G.P.

Family Planning Advice (GP or Practice Nurse)

This is available from all the doctors or nurses in the surgery. Advice on contraception or on starting a family can be given. Please contact reception for an appointment.

Child Health Surveillance/Baby Clinic (GP & Health Visitor)

Six week parent and baby checks are organised by the Health Visitor with an appointment for parent and baby with a GP at the practice.

Children’s Immunisation (Health Visitor)

Appointments for immunisation's are organised by the Health Visitor team for and will be for local immunisation hubs.

Travel Immunisation

In line with the vaccination transformation programme general practice will no longer be required to provide travel health services from 1st April 2022

Chronic Disease Management (GP & Practice Nurse)

Patients with asthma, COPD IHD, Hypertension, Chronic Heart Disease, Stroke, Diabetes Hypothyroidism, Dementia, Chronic Depression, Epilepsy or Chronic Kidney Disease will be asked to attend a nurse led clinic for review and monitoring of their condition. The practice will contact you to invite you to attend the clinic when your review is due.

Influenza Vaccination

All patients over the age of 65 or who suffer from chronic respiratory disease, heart disease, diabetes, kidney or liver failure or who are immunosuppressed will be invited to attend for their annual influenza vaccination directly by the Health Board at one of the local vaccination hubs.

Sexual and Reproductive Health

All women who are sexually active and are between the ages of 25 and 64 are recommended to attend for regular cervical smears, usually every 5 years unless you have been advised to attend on a sooner basis.

Travel Health.

In line with the vaccination transformation programme general practice will no longer be required to provide travel health service from 1st April 2022.

Non NHS Services

For non NHS services, are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
 

Auchinairn Medical Practice is a registered training practice so in addition to the the partners in the practice, we will have trainee doctors who are experienced in hospital medicine and are now gaining advanced training in General Practice.

Occasionally patients may be asked if their consultations may be video taped for teaching purposes.  This will only be done with the consent of the patient and only the doctor and their trainer have access to this video. 

Medical students and Nursing students also attend the practice from time to time. We hope that you will co-operate with us and help the students to learn about general practice.

However, you will be informed of their presence in advance, and if you do not want them to be present at a consultation, your wishes will be respected.

This will not affect your treatment in any way.
